Kelantan : Nasi Kerabu


Kelantan Darul Naim is famous it unique culture. The Kelantanese cuisine, heavily influenced by Thai cuisine, is quite popular among Malaysians. The key ingredients are rice, coconut milk, sugar, brown sugar, local ulam, blue pea flower, galangal and pickle garlic. Hence, the curries are richer and creamier in taste. Most Kelantanese dishes are sweet as the use of sugar is a must in the kitchen. Besides sugar, coconut milk is used more than anywhere else in the country. Even their savoury dishes carry a tinge of sweetness.



This rice dish is a regional specialty from Kelantan and sometimes the rice is tinted in blue with blue pea (bunga telang) flower. It is cooked with many types of herbs. Besides that, there are many fresh herbs like daun kesum (Vietnamese mint) bunga kantan (torch ginger), mint leaves and etc. Other ingredients like sliced onion, cucumber, bean sprout, fish floss and fish crackers are added to the dish to make it a complete meal by itself.

The best bet at Yati? The ‘Ayam percik’ and ‘Nasi kerabu’ of course! Seemingly, they have three varieties of rice to choose from.
The white, blue and a yellow version, served in similar manner; topped with a mix of raw bean sprouts, chopped herbs and finely-cut cabbage, polygonum leaves (laksa leaf), kerisik (fried grated coconut) and a healthy dollop of sambal.

Perlis : Pulut Mangga Harum Manis


Harum Manis Mango is very famous in Perlis and when it comes to the season of Harum Manis, the people within and outside Perlis will certainly ruh to get this mangoes. Although the price is quite expensive, which is from RM15-20 per kilo, it is necessarily to grab this fruit each year of the season between mid-April to early May.



In Perlis, the most attractive place is along the way to Sungai Batu Pahat, there are a lot of stalls that sell this Harum Manis mango. To get cheaper price of this fruit, you can have a straight visit to the Bukit Bintang Agriculture Office, Baru Pahat Perlis.


During this fruit season, the Bukit Bintang Agriculture Office will provide” Pulut Mangga Harum Manis and Harum Manis mango juice. The visitors can visit here and try the special delicacies there. The price is really reasonable which is RM4 a plate and RM2 for the juice of Harum Manis Mango

Normally, this stock or fruit is really limited due to its season and high demand of the customers. Thus, the customers who are not get the opportunity to taste the Harum Manis Mango, you can have a short visit to the Harumanis Cafe, Pusat Kecemerlangan Harumanis, Bukit Bintang, Jalan Batu Pahat, Perlis. 





Other than that, the visitors can also go to the Kafeteria Bangunan Agro Pelancongan at the Department of Agriculture  Perlis.

Melaka : Hajjah Mona Asam Pedas

Asam Pedas Selera Kampung @ Plaza Mahkota which was quite honestly; disappointing, led us to Hajjah Mona Asam Pedas off Heeren Street/Jonker Street in town centre and opposite of the majestic Casa Del Rio Hotel. 
The night were kick offwith a plate of Malay Asam Pedas which located within the vicinity of the UNESCO Heritage circle. To be precise it is 100 Meter away from Donald and Lily’s Restaurant. This restaurant operate from 5pm to 5am daily. The restaurant is actually a house convert to restaurant and is pretty easy to spot. From in front of Donald and Lily’s restaurant just go further in towards the new hotel which currently building in progress.




Anyway, the food arrived relatively quick, understandable since none of them was cooked from scratch. They have these boiling cauldrons (or large woks) with pieces of fish in them, and another one with beef that are being perpetually heated to a boil. So, they only need to scoop your preferred choice – Ikan pari (stingray), Ikan tenggiri (mackerel), Ikan parang (saito/wolf herring), Ikan kembong besar (large mackerel?) and fish head, or Daging Tetel (softened beef with fats and tendons).

Negeri Sembilan : Masak Lemak Cili Api & Rendang




When we talk about the food in this state, traditional Negeri Sembilan food is famous for being fiery hot and spicy. They use alot of santan (coconut milk) and chilli in cooking. Methods of cooking like Masak Lemak Cili Api and Rendang are typical Minang cuisine and they are cooked with a liberal use of with chili and coconut.

It literally translates as "Cooked in coconut milk and bird's eye chilli. This is one of the signature dishes of the Minang cuisine. You can use chicken,seafood,mushroom,vegetable, eggs, fish, or even sardines to cook masak lemak cili api. It's a very versatile cooking style.

Rendang

Negeri Sembilan also has many types of Rendang. Rendang cooked in typical Minang style does not use spices but with aromatics like ginger, galangal, lemongrass and lots of coconut .



I'm sure most of you will be familiar with beef rendang and chicken rendang, but in Negeri Sembilan, almost anything can be made into rendang and that includes ferns and shoots of plants that is normally not used in cuisine of other states.

Terengganu : Nasi Dagang



Malaysia is always famous for its variety of foods. Although the whole country is like a huge dining place, there are still foods ‘belongs’ to certain places or places that stand out as representing some particular cooking or foods.

Due to the geographical location and history back ground, apart from cuisines which representing the three major races, Terengganu food has shown the influence of Thai culture and taste. Terengganu has abundance of rice based dishes such as nasi dagang, nasi kunyit, nasi kuning, nasi berlauk, nasi lemak and nasi kerabu.




Famous Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang restaurant at Cendering. Nasi Dagang or literally the ‘trader’s rice’ which is said is the rice that was eaten by trader on their business journey. Nasi dagang is, perhaps the most representing food for Terengganu. The dish is mixes of rice and glutinous rich with coconut milk added once it is cooked. The rice is eaten with tuna curry and light vegetable pickles.




Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang, opens 07:00 - 11:00 am. Best stall to go for nasi dagang is Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang, a little stall about 2km from Kuala Ibai bridge, by the road of Chendering. Early bird always catches its meal. Nasi dagang in Mak Ngah’s stall always sold out before 11:00am. Other alternative will be at any stalls in Kuala Terengganu which offer quite similar taste. The best way is to try it! :)

Johor : Cendol

Shall you imagine that you can get this for a cup even more during sunny day especially in Johor. We recommend you this delicious cendol ever!



You can find this stall at Jalan Meranti Merah, off the Tebrau Highway, just outside the Maybank Branch Tebrau. People here used to call Yan @ Md Zain Cendol stall. They run their operation from 10 am till 6 pm and closed on public holidays. Halal is guaranteed.
And, the cendol of Yan @ Md Zain on a typical mobile cendol stall just outside the Maybank Branch along Jalan Tebrau in Taman Melody is a hot local favourite. Everyone who lives or works around here knows about Yan @ Md Zain cendol.


This cendol made of pandan jelly "worms", mashed boiled red beans, sweet corn, gula Melaka (palm sugar) and shaved ice in creamy coconut milk is smooth and delicious. Despite all the sweet ingredients, it was actually not overly sugary, hence its attraction. So guys what you waiting for. Serve this temptation!

Temerloh : Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin


Have you ever heard about Temerloh? Do you know what is so special about Temerloh?



Yeaa. I'm sure all of you know what is often related with Temerloh.

For those who have not  come to Temerloh and may be on the way to Kuantan, make sure you stop by to enjoy the delights of Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin which is well known around the town of Temerloh. 



Now, there are many booths that caught the attention of people when it's a  lunchtime. 
It is located in the vicinity of the Pahang River and situated near Petronas. In addition, there are several restaurants serving Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin in the town of Temerloh.


For those who have never tried the Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin,  the price charged is quite affordable. It is only RM 10 for head and tail! 


Normally, the variety of food serves at the booths have more customers. For example, Gerai Pak Usop is the most famous  in Temerloh. This is because, they served various types of dishes such as ikan bakar, and ABC special. So, when it's time for lunch, surely many people are queuing!
